Welcome to the website of the Cape Buccaneers Rugby Football Club.
Our club was founded in 1966 here in Cape Town, South Africa, to offer expats living in Cape Town, a chance to get together and to have a couple of laughs in a jovial sporting atmosphere. We are fortunate to have been given the run of the Hamiltons Sea Point Rugby Football Club facilities.
Hamiltons is the oldest rugby club in South Africa, having been founded in 1875. It occupies a splendid piece of land consisting of 3 floodlit rugby fields, a double storey club house with 2 bars, a lounge and function rooms. It's a stones throw from the Atlantic Ocean and the Cape Town Waterfont.
We meet for a drink at Hamiltons every Monday night from about 6.00pm and on Wednesdays start off at Hamiltons and usually end up at the Firemans Arms.
We are always keen to hear from new members. The club plays regular social Sunday morning rugby matches with touch rugby on Wednesday evenings, fromä pm at Hamiltons. In the summer, we have a social cricket team that is equally keen to hear from prospective members. For those that just want to keep fit, join the guys and girls at the club at around 6pm for a gentle run along Sea Point promenade most summer nights.
Please feel free to navigate around our website. You will find an overview of how the club got started, information on the current season's events and matches, some humerous player profiles and a walk down memory lane. There is also a blog that you can read to stay abreast of latest club news as well as all our contact details.
So if you are in Cape Town on holiday or a longer sejour, why not give us ring and come join us for a beer and a laugh! If not, then simply leave a message in our guestbook that you came to our site and let us know what you thought.
